Our story
Built around the patient, not the building
Care and Cure Clinics Ltd. began in 2018 as a single medical and surgical practice in Port Harcourt city. The gap it was founded to close was not a shortage of doctors, but a shortage of continuity: patients were being seen in one place, investigated in another, operated on somewhere else again, moved between them by whoever had a vehicle, and then sent home with nobody following up.
The response was to build the missing links into the same organisation, in the order a patient actually meets them. Consultation came first โ a clinician who listens, examines and decides what question needs answering. Diagnostics followed, so that investigation and interpretation sat with the clinicians who had asked for them rather than in another building. Then treatment: theatres for surgery, a fertility unit, maternity and newborn care, and the medicines and follow-up that make a diagnosis worth having.
Emergency response was added because a patient who cannot reach care has not been treated, and domiciliary and residential care because recovery does not stop when the consultation ends. Telemedicine widened access furthest of all, and now brings us patients in many countries.
Today the clinic is a fully accredited multi-specialist hospital with more than 200 clinical and support staff, 74 services and over 10,000+ patients cared for. The organising idea has not changed since the first consulting room: one team, one record, and responsibility for the whole journey rather than a slice of it.

Our vision
To become a leading, trusted and internationally recognised healthcare organisation providing comprehensive, accessible, innovative and compassionate healthcare services to individuals and families across the world.
Our mission
To provide high-quality healthcare through a combination of specialist medical and surgical expertise, modern diagnostic technology, digital healthcare solutions, compassionate caregiving and patient-centred services.
What the mission commits us to
Six commitments, in practice
Restating a mission is easy. These are the six things it obliges us to actually do, and how each one shows up in the service.
Accessible regardless of location
A patient across the city and a patient across the world should both be able to reach a specialist. Telemedicine and community services exist to make that literal.
Consultation before investigation
A clinician listens and examines first. Tests are then chosen to answer a specific question, rather than ordered in bulk and interpreted afterwards.
Modern equipment, properly staffed
Theatres, an embryology laboratory, CT and MRI imaging and a full diagnostic laboratory - kept current, and operated by people trained on them.
Prevention and early detection
Screening, immunisation, health education and follow-up on borderline results - the work that stops a condition becoming an admission.
A multidisciplinary team
More than 200 clinical and support staff across the medical, surgical, fertility, maternity, diagnostic and community services, discussing cases between disciplines.
Technology that widens access
Online consultation, digital records and remote follow-up used where they genuinely remove a barrier - not for their own sake.
Our core values
The five values the clinic is run on
Each one settles a real operational question. They are written here in the clinic's own words.
- 1
Compassion and empathy
We meet every patient as a person first. Understanding what someone is frightened of changes how their care is delivered, not only how it is described.
- 2
Courage
We give the honest answer, take on the difficult case, and say plainly when a patient needs something we do not provide.
- 3
Dignity and respect
Privacy, consent and courtesy are part of the treatment. Every patient is received the same way, whatever their background, nationality or means.
- 4
Improving lives to the best
The measure of our work is a life materially better afterwards - not a completed appointment or a closed file.
- 5
Commitment to the best care
Current evidence, modern equipment and properly credentialled clinicians, reviewed continuously rather than assumed.

Our philosophy
Dignity is part of the treatment
Every patient deserves quality healthcare, dignity, compassion and professional attention โ regardless of location.
That sentence decides a surprising number of operational questions. It is why a consultation ends with a written plan rather than a verbal summary. It is why the emergency crew is clinical staff and not a driver with a vehicle. It is why a relative in another country is given a named contact instead of a general enquiries address.
It also sets a limit we take seriously: we say plainly when a patient needs something we do not provide, and refer onward rather than hold on to a case we cannot serve well.
Dr. John Ordu
Founder & Team Leader
Dr. Ordu founded the clinic in 2018 and leads the clinical team across its medical, surgical, fertility, maternity, diagnostic and community care services.
How we work
Co-ordination is the service
Ten care lines only help a patient if they behave as one. Three habits make that real.
One record, one plan
Whether a patient is seen in clinic, in theatre, at home or on a video call, the same record follows them and the same plan governs the next step.
Services that hand over properly
An operation, a discharge, a transport booking and a first home-care visit are treated as one sequence, because that is how the patient experiences them.
Families are part of the plan
Relatives - including relatives in other countries - are given the information and the named contact they need to actually help.
