What we do with information about you - written to be read, not to be skipped.
Who we are
Care and Cure Clinics Ltd. (RC 1533771) is a multi-specialist healthcare institution registered in Nigeria, with its clinic at #15 Ikwerre Street, Mile One, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. In this policy, “we” and “the clinic” mean Care and Cure Clinics Ltd..
We are the data controller for information about our patients and about visitors to this website. If you want to raise anything about your information, write to info@careandcureclinics.co.uk.
What information we collect
When you contact us or book
- Your name, telephone number and email address
- How you would prefer us to reply
- A brief description of what you need, in your own words
- For medical transport: the patient's name, pickup and destination addresses, and their mobility needs
- For care at home: the patient's name, the area where care is needed, and the kind of care sought
- For telemedicine: the country and time zone you are contacting us from
The booking form deliberately asks for as little as possible. It exists to reach you and put you in the right queue — not to take a clinical history. A clinician takes that properly at the consultation.
When we care for you
- Your clinical history, examination findings, diagnoses and treatment
- Investigation requests, results and imaging reports
- Prescriptions and medication records
- Correspondence with other clinicians and facilities involved in your care
- Records of visits, transport journeys and care delivered at home
When you use this website
- Technical information your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider processes to serve the site and to protect it from abuse
- A short-lived record of submissions from your connection, used only to limit repeated automated submissions of the booking form
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party advertising scripts run on it.
Why we use it
- To provide care. Assessing, diagnosing, treating and following up on your condition, and delivering transport and community care.
- To contact you about your request. Confirming appointments, arranging journeys and giving you results.
- To keep proper clinical records. Accurate records are a professional and legal obligation, and they protect you as much as us.
- To meet legal and regulatory duties, including public health reporting where the law requires it.
- To operate safely, including audit of the quality of care and investigation of complaints.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
Who we share it with
We share information about you only where there is a proper reason:
- Clinicians involved in your care, including hospitals and laboratories we refer you to, so they can treat you safely.
- People you have authorised. A relative, carer or representative you have told us may receive information. Being next of kin does not by itself entitle anyone to your records.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, such as our website hosting and email providers, under terms requiring them to protect it and use it only as we instruct.
- Regulators, courts or authorities where the law obliges us to disclose, or where there is a serious risk to someone's life.
Where providers operate internationally, we verify that appropriate administrative, technical, and physical security safeguards are maintained to protect your data.
How long we keep it
Clinical records are retained for the periods required by Nigerian law and professional guidance for medical records. Booking enquiries that do not lead to care are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and to answer any question about how it was handled.
Records are securely archived in accordance with healthcare regulatory requirements and statutory record retention guidelines.
How we protect it
- This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- Access to clinical records is limited to staff who need it for your care, and is a matter of professional discipline as well as policy.
- Information submitted through the booking form is transmitted encrypted and delivered to the clinic's triage team.
- We ask you to keep clinical detail brief in online forms. Anything sensitive is better discussed in the consultation itself.
Your rights
Subject to Nigerian data protection law, you may:
- Ask what information we hold about you, and be given a copy
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete information, where we are not required to keep it for clinical, legal or regulatory reasons
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, a particular use of your information
- Withdraw consent you have given, without affecting care already provided
- Complain to us, and to the relevant Nigerian data protection authority
To exercise any of these, write to info@careandcureclinics.co.uk or ask at reception. We may need to confirm your identity first — that protects you.
Children and this website
This website is intended for adults. Where care is being arranged for a child, we expect the request to come from a parent or guardian, and their information is handled with the same protections as any other patient's.
Changes to this policy, and how to contact us
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date shown beside the contents list. Material changes affecting existing patients will be communicated directly.
