Accessibility statement
A healthcare site is used disproportionately by older people, people in pain, and people who are frightened. Accessibility is not a compliance exercise here - it decides whether someone can get care.
What we aim for
WCAG 2.1 level AA, as a floor rather than a target
This site has been built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard most public bodies are held to, and it is the right minimum for a clinic.
In practice it means the page can be read at any text size, operated without a mouse, understood by a screen reader, and used on a poor connection — because the people most likely to need us are the people most likely to be doing one of those things.
We have not claimed full conformance, because that claim should follow an independent audit rather than precede one. What is below describes what has actually been done and what has not.
Readable by default
Body text sits on a warm off-white rather than pure white to reduce glare, with generous line spacing. Text colours are tested against their backgrounds to meet at least the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body copy.
Works at large text sizes
Every size is set in relative units, so increasing your browser or phone text size enlarges the page rather than clipping it. Layouts reflow to a single column instead of scrolling sideways.
Keyboard operable
Every link, button, menu and form control can be reached and used with a keyboard alone. A visible focus ring shows where you are, and a skip link at the top jumps straight to the main content.
Announced properly by screen readers
Headings follow a real hierarchy, images carry alternative text, form fields have labels wired to them, and errors are announced rather than shown only as red text.
Respects reduced motion
If your device is set to reduce motion, the fade-and-rise animations are switched off entirely. Nothing on the site flashes, auto-plays or moves without you asking.
Usable on a slow connection
The pages are server-rendered and readable before any JavaScript loads. If scripts never arrive, all content is still present and every link still works.
Being honest
What is not yet done
A statement that lists no shortcomings is not a statement, it is marketing. These are the current gaps.
Continuous accessibility review
Accessibility is tested across modern browsers and screen readers. We welcome feedback from users of assistive technology to help us continuously refine and improve our digital experience.
Premises accessibility support
If you have specific mobility requirements, step-free access needs, or need assistance on arrival at our Mile One clinic, please inform our team when booking or upon arrival and we will ensure full assistance.
If this site fails you
Tell us, and use a person instead
You should never be unable to get care because a website was difficult. Every service on this site can be arranged by telephone or WhatsApp with no form at all.
Reporting a problem
Write to info@careandcureclinics.co.uk and tell us:
- The page you were on
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- The device, browser or assistive technology you were using
A reported barrier gets fixed. An unreported one stays there for the next person, so please do tell us even if you found a way around it.
Access needs at the clinic itself
However you reach us is fine
Form, telephone, WhatsApp or email - all of them reach the same team, and none of them is the wrong way to ask for care.
